1. Local Storage & Data Privacy
OshBook is engineered with a privacy-first, offline-first architecture. All information you input, including medication names, dosages, refill quantities, timing schedules, and adherence records, is stored locally on your smartphone using secure local databases. The limited app-usage and diagnostic data described in Section 3 is the only information that leaves your device, and it never contains any of your health information.
- Your medication names, dosages, schedules, and adherence records never leave your device unless you manually create a local backup.
- We do not operate central cloud databases that compile or profile your medical records.
- You do not need to create an account, sign in, or provide an email address, name, or phone number to use the app. (The app does generate an anonymous identifier; see Section 3.)
2. Device Permissions & Usage
To deliver accurate, timely medication reminders, OshBook requests specific system permissions on your Android device or iPhone. Each permission is strictly used for its designated functional purpose:
Used to schedule dose alarms at the exact time in your medication schedule. On newer Android versions you grant this yourself in Settings; if it is off, reminders still fire but may be a few minutes late.
Lets a dose reminder show full-screen and play its tone even when the phone is locked, using a short-lived foreground service so the alarm keeps sounding until you answer.
Allows the app to display banner alerts, audio chimes, and action buttons (Take / Snooze) on your screen.
Reschedules your active medication alarms automatically whenever your mobile device reboots or updates.
On iPhone (iOS 26 or later) OshBook asks for two permissions. Alarms lets the app schedule a dose alarm with Apple’s AlarmKit, so it rings at the scheduled time even when the app is closed, the phone is on silent, or a Focus mode is on; without it no alarm will ring. Notificationslets the app send a follow-up reminder if a dose alarm goes unanswered. Both are asked once and can be changed any time in Settings → OshBook. OshBook does not ask to track you across other apps or websites.
3. Analytics, Diagnostics & Anonymous Identifiers
Your medication data stays on your device. Separately, the OshBook app uses a small set of Google Firebase services to keep the app stable and to understand, in aggregate, how it is used, and the Meta SDK to measure whether our ads lead to installs. This data covers app usage, technical diagnostics, app configuration, and install attribution only. It never includes your medication names, dosages, schedules, or adherence records.
On first launch the app creates an anonymous account: a randomly generated identifier with no name, email, or phone number attached. It is stored by Google and on your device, and is used to associate your records with your installation. In a future version it will also let a family member’s caregiver account be linked to the device, with consent.
Collects app-usage events (screens viewed, buttons tapped, session length), a Firebase installation ID, device information (model, operating system, language), and an approximate location (country or region) derived from your IP address. We use this only to understand how the app is used so we can improve it. It is never used for advertising, and we do not enable Google’s advertising or “Google signals” features.
When the app crashes it sends a diagnostic report: the technical stack trace, your device model and OS version, the app version, and a Crashlytics installation identifier. We use these reports solely to find and fix bugs, which is important for a medication reminder, where a crash can mean a missed dose.
Lets us adjust a few app settings without publishing a new version. Today it is used for one thing: telling the app the minimum version it should be running, so that if a version has a serious problem we can ask you to install the fix. To fetch these settings the app sends a Firebase installation ID, your device’s country and language settings, time zone, and operating system version. It is never used for advertising or to personalize what you see.
We advertise OshBook on Meta’s platforms (Facebook and Instagram). The app includes Meta’s software development kit, which automatically reports when the app is installed and when it is opened, together with basic device and app information (app version, device model, operating system version, language, and time zone) and your IP address, which Meta may use to estimate your general location. Meta also receives the install-referrer information that Google Play provides, which lets Meta tell whether an install came from one of our ads. We use this only to measure and improve our advertising. The app does not read your Android advertising ID, sends Meta no custom events, and never sends Meta any medication, health, or adherence information. Meta processes this data as an independent controller under Meta’s Privacy Policy, and may store it on servers outside your country, including in the United States.
Who processes this data. The four Firebase services above are Google services. Google acts as our data processor and may store and process this information on servers outside your country, including in the United States, under Google’s Privacy Policy and the Firebase data processing terms.
Retention. Crash reports are retained for approximately 90 days. Analytics data is retained according to the window configured in our Firebase project and Google’s defaults. Data sent to Meta is retained under Meta’s own policies.
Your choices. This data contains no health information and no directly identifying details, so we rely on our legitimate interest in keeping the app reliable, improving it, and measuring our advertising. You can object to this processing, or ask us to delete the data tied to your installation, by contacting us (Section 7). You can also review or limit how Meta uses data it receives through its own tools, such as the ad settings in your Facebook or Instagram account. Uninstalling the app stops all future collection.
4. Zero Data Monetization
We firmly believe that health reminder tools should remain safe and uncompromised:
- No Data Selling: We do not sell, rent, broker, or monetize your health information, prescription names, or usage patterns to pharmaceutical companies, ad networks, or data brokers.
- No Ads in the App: OshBook shows no ads and does no ad targeting. The Firebase analytics in Section 3 are product analytics only and are never used for advertising.
- Limited Sharing with Meta: The only information shared with an advertising company is the install and app-open data described in Section 3, used to measure our own ads. It contains no health information, and the app does not access your advertising ID.
5. Data Control & Deletion Rights
You maintain full ownership and control over your local data. You may delete it at any time by clearing the app’s data in your Android device Settings menu or by uninstalling the app on Android or iPhone. To request deletion of the diagnostic and analytics data described in Section 3 held by us or Google, contact us (Section 7).

6. Children, International Users & Changes
OshBook is a general-audience tool for managing medication and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13, or the equivalent minimum age in your country.
OshBook is offered by a company based in Canada and is used worldwide. Wherever you are, the data described in Section 3 may be processed by Google on our behalf in other countries, including the United States.
If we change how the app handles data, we will update this page and the “Last Updated” date above.
